From the Palette: Artist Bio
The Art of Deirdre Edwards is situated within a diverse arts community in Broken Hill NSW Australia. Broken Hill is circled by the harsh Australian outback.
My work as a visual Artist portrays an essence of "self" in relation to my existence in the landscape. I seek to express an inner vision created from memories, thoughts, experiences and the connection I have with my environment. A love of all art has inspired me all my life and within my memories I draw on the obscure details within a subject unifying abstract metaphors with traditional realistic impressions.
Catering for the investor my aim is to ensure works are individual with each painting being unique.
Specialising in mixed mediums, My artworks vary to include watercolour, acrylics, inks and oils to achieve a desired effect. Techniques with thin washes against contrasting textures create vibrant imagery reflecting the colours of the region. Supports are varied with techniques being applied to paper, canvas, unprimed canvas and canvas board.
In contrast, my style and technique is applied to plate, Producing singular artist proof and limited edition etchings and relief prints. Creating an alternative for the investor or art lover. I enjoy combining my photopolymer printmaking techniques with mixed medium creating a combination of colour.
I have won numerous awards and accolades over 25 years of painting and exhibiting, with most recently being awarded the Broken Hill South Rotary Artist Walk of Fame.
The sought after style of my paintings has been pursued by collectors nationally and internationally.
