Deirdre (Dee) was born in Broken Hill, New South Wales,Australia; an isolated outback city with its heritage and growth based on mining.

After an accident which has left her with a disability, Deirdre has struggled to maintain her love of painting.

The much sought after style of her work prior to her injury mainly comprised of vibrant watercolour paintings of the outback landscape.

Privately, behind the scenes she dabbled in mixed medium but she never really marketed sales in this direction.

Deirdre's paintings have evolved since her injury, from the realistic portrayal of the landscape to a more contemporary semi-abtract style.

The artworks currently on display are an example of this new exciting interpretation of living in the Outback.

Two of these new works have already received awards.

Deirdre remains a member of the Contempory Art Society of Victoria, Linden Centre for Contemporary Art, Canowindra Art Network, National Association of Visual Arts & the Royal Art Society of South Australia.

Her Artworks are represented in the Broken Hill City Art Gallery Collection and hangs in Private and Business Collections nationally and internationally.

About My Work

A disability leaves you more isolated within yourself including physically. Restictions are placed on your lifestyle. Socialising is difficult. Walking through the bush sketching and/or painting on site is impossible. Painting for long hours impossible.

On the occasion I have been able to "be out there" whether it is to view this wonderful countryside I live in, drive through the streets of this unique city, or just to communicate to other people, I now look through different eyes. I see in the inner being of my environment.

My paintings now reflect what I "feel" about a subject. My works are interpretated from memory, from within.

I work on varied supports, paper, canvas, board and unprimed canvas.

Please visit my Outback and feel the experience.
